Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping a long drawn out saga is finally reaching a conclusion, as reports they’ve read today whilst tucking into their meals on curry night suggest a new boss is on the verge of being confirmed.
The Daily Mirror suggests Chelsea are in-line to appoint Italy boss Antonio Conte as their manager next month, with the former Juventus boss taking charge of the West London side after Italy’s campaign in the European Championships.
Conte is heading into his first international tournament later this year, and likely his last, with the successful Juventus boss wanting to return to club management, where he previously won three successive Serie A titles with the Turin giants.
Reports linking Conte to Chelsea have been strengthened by statements made in The Independent, who state Conte is confident he has seen off the challenges of Diego Simeone and Massimiliano Allegri to land the job with the Blues.
Our landlord believes Conte’s appointment at Stamford Bridge is inevitable now and he’s keen to see how the experienced boss will cope with the rigorous challenges presented by English football.
Chelsea fans, would you be happy with this appointment? Let us know in the comments below!
