Pjanić, 20, has attracted interest from all of Europe’s top clubs this past season with some eye catching performances for the stade Gerland club in the Champions League and domestically in Ligue 1. At different times this past 12 months he has been linked with none other than Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and City.
Inter boss Rafa Benitez’ relationship with the Inter owners is becoming increasingly strained and is in need of a landmark signing to get everyone back on side. With the signing of Pjanić he would hope that the Inter faithful would see it as a move in the right direction and could possibly be the start of a Rafa-revolution.
Ancelotti on the other hand has suffered the first ‘bad’ spell as Chelsea boss and only Sundays draw away at Newcastle has spared him the indignity if losing five in a row. With Frank Lampard missing for much of this season Pjanić could step in and give Chelsea the attacking impetus they have badly missed of late.
It is believed Lyon would be willing to sit-down and talk if a bid matching their £25 million valuation of the player. General Manager Bernard Lacombe was quoted as saying “If some club arrives with an attractive offer we can sit around a table and talk about it, but, I repeat, this is not the case at the moment”
This is likely to spark an all-out bidding war either this winter window or definitely in its summer counterpart.
