There hasn’t been too much for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern to celebrate this season and it’s been a fairly quiet window, though one story today has grabbed the attention of the lads playing pool.
The 18-year-old has been compared to Alvaro Morata and his contract expires at the end of the season, whilst he’s also attracted the attention of Arsenal and Manchester United.
Mayoral is highly-rated on the continent and is tipped to be the next emerging star from the youth squad, having scored 11 goals in 24 appearances for Real Madrid’s Castilla team this season.
However, with the player stalling on contract talks Los Blancos will be concerned that they could lose another highly-rated striker, following the loss of Alvaro Morata to Juventus a few seasons back.
Unlike the Morata deal though, an exit for Mayoral at the end of his contract this summer would mean the Spanish giants would not be able to negotiate a buy-back clause with his new club.
Our landlord has urged the striker not to move to Chelsea though, citing Romelu Lukaku as evidence that even the best young talents are not given their fair chance at Stamford Bridge.
