Chelsea receive boost in chase of 78-goal Premier League star

lukaku99112Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have all their fingers and toes crossed, as they avoid the cracks in the flooring on the way to the bar to ensure they have all the luck they can in their hunt for a Premier League star.

Metro quote Everton manager Roberto Martinez as admitting it will be difficult to keep hold of Romelu Lukaku this summer, with the player linked with a high-profile return to former club Chelsea.

Lukaku has been a heroic figure at Goodison Park during the past few years and it was his brace on Saturday against Chelsea which fired the Toffees to Wembley for the FA Cup semi-final, where they will discover their opponents this evening.

However, with Everton struggling in the Premier League and failing to stake a confident claim for a European spot, Lukaku could be lured elsewhere and Martinez admitted it’s a huge possibility.

‘If Manchester United cannot keep Cristiano Ronaldo, that is a sign of a modern game. If you sell a player for those sorts of amounts, you can get the benefit of adding three or four players.’

Lukaku is Everton’s record signing and they’d likely demand in excess of £40m for the player’s signature, whilst his price-tag could skyrocket with a positive performance in this summer’s European Championships.
