Chelsea edging closer to sealing deal for excellent international midfielder

PerisicChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed some positive news today, as their chase for an international midfielder received a tremendous boost.

CalcioMercato states Inter Milan will struggle to keep hold of Ivan Perisic if they don’t qualify for the Champions League and Chelsea could be set to take advantage, should that situation occur.

Inter’s shock defeat to Genoa last night left their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League in tatters, as they trail third-placed Roma heading into the final four games of the campaign.

Without the offer of Champions League football, Inter may be forced to cash-in on the Croatian international and it’s great news for incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte, who is a big fan of the former Wolfsburg ace.

Whilst Chelsea themselves will not have Champions League football next term, and look likely to miss out on European competitions altogether, the Premier League would provide a financial boost for Perisic which may be appealing.

Our landlord believes Perisic should move to a Champions League club though, as the 27-year-old needs to test himself at a higher level.

Would Perisic be a good fit at Chelsea? Let us know in the comments below!
