Chelsea receive welcome boost ahead of Tottenham clash

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been seriously concerned about the fitness of a few of their key men…

Antonio Conte has led his side fantastically, but he has done so using a very small group of first team players.

Figures like Courtois, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Alonso, among others, have played practically every game this season – leaving many Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern fearful of a burnout as the season begins to heat up.

They were fearful that their concerns had been realised after the Stoke City clash, with Marcos Alonso posted a photo of himself in the rehab room after the game – with many fearing that the defender could be set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in the game.

With such a high-profile clash against Tottenham on the way, many were fearing that Alonso wouldn’t be available – but now, ahead of the game, Antonio Conte has ensured that the Spaniard is fit – with Conte’s squad injury free at present.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (via West London Sport) Conte said: “He [Alonso] is available for tomorrow’s game and we do not have any injuries”.

This has come as a huge boost to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom were fearful that Cesar Azpilicueta could have to deputise for his fellow Spaniard.

Alonso has been a constant feature under Conte this season after the 3-4-3 formation switch, with the defender making the left wing-back spot his own in recent weeks. He has made 13 Premier League starts so far, and has contributed 1 goal and 2 assists along the way.

He has built quite the cult following amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many touting him as one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders.
