The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sweating on the status of Diego Costa after Wednesday evening’s win over Man City…
A few of the fans in the pub have speculated that Diego Costa could be set to face a ban following an incident with Vincent Kompany. Described by some as a ‘kick out’, and given Costa’s history with regards to run-ins with the FA, there was certainly some nervousness amongst the Blues in the pub.
However, as per the Daily Mail, Chelsea fans will be relieved to hear that the striker has avoided an FA ban for the incident, with referee Mike Dean reportedly having noted that he saw the incident at the time, and dealt with it accordingly.
This is a big boost for the Blues, with Diego Costa undoubtedly a vital figure under Antonio Conte. Scorer of 17 goals in the Premier League, there is no doubting that Chelsea wouldn’t be where they are now without Costa’s goals.
However, that does not end the issues for Conte. In fact, the striker has been struggling somewhat in recent weeks, and whilst his goalscoring record has been good this year – the drought that he is currently suffering from is an issue. He hasn’t scored in the Premier League since the start of March, and that is a big problem for Chelsea’s attack.
The Chelsea fans in the pub are hoping that he gets back to scoring ways soon.
