Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that the latest piece of gossip they’ve heard means a youngster could finally be bled into the first-team frame.
The Daily Mail states Chelsea will not let talented defender Andreas Christensen join Borussia Monchengladbach on a permanent basis, after the young Danish starlet impressed on-loan with the Bundesliga side last season.
Christensen is currently half-way through a two-year loan deal with Gladbach, with reports suggesting the German side are eyeing a club-record to land the player on a permanent basis.
However, Chelsea see the 20-year-old as a key-part of their future and do not want to lose him, despite new boss Antonio Conte targeting the likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Antonio Rudiger in the transfer window; which would mean more competition for places.
Our landlord believes Christensen could finally be the man to change the way the youth at Chelsea is perceived though, as he feels the young defender could emulate John Terry’s historic career at Stamford Bridge.
Are Chelsea right to keep hold of this man? Let us know in the comments below!
