The owner of the Chinese restaurant next door to the Transfer Tavern has been waxing lyrical about the new money spinning league over in his homeland, explaining to any punter who is willing to listen that football in China is really set to take off.
After a string of high-profile signings by teams in the Chinese league, news has emerged in today’s The Sun that one player who was denied a move to the far east during the transfer window was Chelsea midfielder Oscar.
The Blues rejected a whopping £57.5 million bid for their Brazilian during the transfer window although the club in question, Jiangsu Suning, claim they will be back to snare the player in the summer.
One Chelsea fan is having a steady pint whilst catching up with the landlord and he says he would be mortified if any player from his club went to play in China, as it would be clear that their only intention would be the money, and it would show a real lack of ambition.
Chelsea fans… Surely you wouldn’t want to lose Oscar? Let us know in the comments!
