Chelsea reportedly agree terms as Blues edge closer to announcing first summer deal

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to get impatient…

Last season was an impressive one, but the fans in the pub don’t think that Chelsea can rest on their laurels. Instead, many in the pub are desperately hoping that their side will move quickly to seal a few summer deals.

There was a cheer in the Transfer Tavern, then, when the Evening Standard reported earlier today (Friday) that the Blues are said to have agreed terms on their first deal of the summer. Significantly, whilst a deal is said to be agreed,  it is also noted that the club won’t be announcing anything until July 1st.

Though the motives behind the delay remain unclear, the Evening Standard are speculating that it could be for Willy Caballero, and that would make a lot of sense.

Recently released by Manchester City, the goalkeeper impressed for the Citizens when given a chance last season. Chelsea, on the other hand, have recently sold Asmir Begovic, leaving a gap in the squad for the role of the backup keeper. Caballero brings years of experience and knowledge, whilst he is also a very talented player in his own right.

Whilst the Chelsea fans in the pub want to see a few bigger names join the club, they’re happy that Caballero could be on board.
