The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are few and far between at the moment…
The Blues appear to have retreated back home after their disappointment following the Community Shield, with Antonio Conte’s side falling to a defeat against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side.
However, it appears as though they may have a reason to get themselves back into the Transfer Tavern – with Transfer Market Web reporting that the Blues are keen to enter the transfer market once again. Transfer Market Web notes that Chelsea are considering a move for Monaco defender Djibril Sidibé, with the Blues struggling for success in pursuit of Alex Sandro.
Sidibé, who is rated at £16.2m by Transfer Markt, moved to Monaco in 2016 and has impressed for the French side. He was, of course, involved as the team stormed to the Ligue 1 title last season.
A versatile defender, he is able to play at both left-back and right-back – and so would be perfect for the needs of Chelsea, who are severely depleted in both positions at present.
Sidibé would certainly fit the bill at Stamford Bridge, offering a versatile and reliable option for Antonio Conte.
Monaco have sold a lot of players this summer, and so will be hesitant to sell the defender, but they could have no choice if Chelsea come in with a decent offer.
In truth, the Blues are running out of options, and so they may have little other choice.
