The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are still hoping for a few more signings this summer…
The Blues have done well to capture a few players this summer, notably Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata, but given the demands that Antonio Conte will be under next season, a few more bodies are certainly needed.
With just over a month to go until the window shuts, Chelsea have a fair amount of time to bring in a few bodies, and at least according to ESPN, they are already considering their options – with a potential move for La Liga player on the cards.
ESPN report that Chelsea are keen on Barcelona 25-year-old Sergi Roberto, who has proven his worth as a reliable hand for the Catalan giants as of late. It is noted that no move has been made as of yet, but with Chelsea keen to improve their squad, he is a firm option for Antonio Conte.
Roberto is known for his versatility, and whilst he made the majority of his performances at right-back last season, he is also more than capable in midfield.
A strong passer and dribbler, he would certainly fit on the right-hand side of the Chelsea defence, whilst the Blues’ lack of midfield depth could see him fill in there too. What’s more, with Victor Moses the only real option on the right of Chelsea’s back-line at present, he would almost certainly feature regularly next season.
Still, any move remains some way off, but Conte appears keen.
