Chelsea reportedly given potential lifeline in hunt to fill important squad gap

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to get increasingly concerned at their side’s lack of summer progress…

The signings of Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger have done very little to quell fears amongst supporters, particularly given the current situation surrounding Diego Costa.

With the Spaniard facing an uncertain future, the Blues desperately need to recruit a few forward – but so far those efforts have ended in failure. Chelsea were touted with a move for Romelu Lukaku for a long time, and a deal looked like a foregone conclusion – but he recently sealed a m0ve to Man Utd. Since then, Chelsea have not looked close to bringing in any strikers.

In truth, with Lukaku unavailable, Andrea Belotti requiring a €100 move and Alvaro Morata still unproven at the highest level – Chelsea are beginning to run out of options.

Thankfully, opportunities can arise in surprising scenarios, and according to Sky Sports, the Blues have found one in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Sky Sports are reporting that Chelsea have been offered the opportunity to sign the Gabon forward for a whopping £70 million.

Whilst that is certainly a lot of money, Chelsea will have to consider a move. They are looking at spending at least that much money on a forward regardless, given the current state of the market, and they would struggle to find one better than Aubameyang.

He bagged a stunning 31 league goals last season, earmarking himself as one of the finest players currently playing in Europe – and Chelsea simply cannot afford to miss out. Now it’s just down to the Blues to decide if they have that sort of money to spend.

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been dreaming of a move like this.
