There are a host of top young players within the Chelsea developmental system, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see what they can do…
The Under-20 World Cup offered some of them a chance to make a name for themselves, and given the success that England enjoyed throughout the tournament, it will come as no surprise that a number of players within the group are highly thought of.
At Chelsea, the duo of Fikayo Tomori and Jake Clarke-Salter are particularly highly-rated, and according to the Evening Standard, the Chelsea brass has some big plans for the duo. The Evening Standard is reporting that the Blues are keen on securing big loan moves for the duo – with destinations including Germany and Spain being considered for Tomori in particular.
Indeed, the pair have been impressive for years now, and their exploits on the international stage have only served to demonstrate that. Tomori spent time at Brighton last season, and impressed when given a chance.
Jake Clarke-Salter, meanwhile, enjoyed a spell at Bristol Rovers last season, which was his first spell away from the club since first joining Chelsea as a junior.
Whilst both are very talented players, there is no room for them at present at Stamford Bridge. John Terry may be leaving, but the impending return of Andreas Christensen, combined with Nathan Ake’s rise to prominence towards the end of last season, means that the Blues have a lot of depth at the back.
Our landlord thinks that the duo will certainly be in-demand this summer…
