Chelsea reportedly ‘likely’ to seal deal for 21-year-old as move edges closer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern had very big hopes for Bertrand Traore…

Having moved to Stamford Bridge as a teenager, the Burkina Faso international was expected to make a real impact for the Blues, but he has struggled over the last few years.

He was loaned out to Ajax last season and whilst he looked solid, he certainly hasn’t lived up to the hype yet, and it appears as though Antonio Conte isn’t ready to give him any more time.

According to L’Equipe, Bertrand Traore is ‘likely’ to move to move to Lyon this summer, with Lyon looking to improve their side. Significantly, with the French outfit said to be looking to speed up their transfer movement, the deal could sooner, rather than later.

Indeed, it is certainly disappointing that Traore is on the verge of an exit, with the attacker clearly a talented young player. He scored a couple of stellar goals whilst on pre-season with the Blues over the last few years, and his technical ability is unrivalled.

Our landlord is just hoping that the Blues will learn from their mistakes and ensure that a buy-back clause is included in the deal. Chelsea have lost so many top players in recent years, notably Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne, and their value has skyrocketed thereafter. They can’t afford to make the same mistake this time around.

Still, with Romelu Lukaku touted with a move – it was always going to be tough for Traore.
