Chelsea reportedly ‘planning’ to submit another bid for £91.7m-rated forward

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for a few more signings…

Victory against Tottenham on Sunday gave reason for optimism at Stamford Bridge, but that only tells half the story for Chelsea.

Whilst their first team is strong, a lack of depth will undoubtedly cause problems for the Blues going forward, and so Antonio Conte and co must look to solve this problem before the summer is over.

According to Transfer Market Web, they are keen to do just that, with the publication reporting that the Blues are ‘planning’ to make another move for Torino forward Andrea Belotti. Rated at a huge €100 million (£91.7 million) – the value of his buyout clause – any move for Belotti is likely to demand a huge fee, but that seemingly isn’t putting Chelsea off.

Rather, any further move would reportedly be Chelsea’s fourth attempt at landing the player, and so Conte clearly wants to see him in a Chelsea shirt.

He bagged 26 goals last season, and so his quality is definitely there, though there are question marks over whether he is worth th sort of money being mooted considering that he has only really had one season at the top.

If Conte is looking to improve his firepower, though, on current form there is nobody better.

Landlord’s Verdict

Alvaro Morata has impressed for Chelsea so far, and so there’s no real need to sign a player to lead the line ahead of him.

If Conte is looking to start utilising two forwards, though, a move for Belotti could make a lot of sense. A typical Italian forward, his poaching style would work well with Alvaro Morata’s deep-lying forward style of playmaking.

The fee, though, would be astronomical, so Chelsea must be careful not to get carried away.
