The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for a few more reinforcements at Stamford Bridge…
Antonio Conte has his work cut out to turn his faltering side around, and whilst he produced a miracle last season, it doesn’t look like he’ll be able to repeat that feat this year.
There is, of course, still more than enough time to turn things around, but it really isn’t looking good for the Blues at present.
Still, the Chelsea brass is trying to back the manager, and it would appear as though another move for one of his key targets is forthcoming. According to Calcio Mercato, Antonio Conte remains keen on a move for Antonio Candreva, though current side Inter Milan have been hesitant to sell.
Significantly, though, it is noted that Chelsea are going to make one more move for the 30-year-old in an effort to please their manager, with Conte desperate to get his man.
Candreva is one of a number of Conte targets that the Blues have been thus far unsuccessful in landing, but Chelsea don’t look ready to give up quite yet.
A versatile midfielder, Candreva would be able to play in a number of positions for the Blues, notably out wide, and so it’s no real surprise that Conte is keen.
Signing Candreva would certainly go against Chelsea’s typical transfer strategy. At 30-years-old, he’s not an option for the future, and likely wouldn’t be able to be a regular at Stamford Bridge for more than a few years.
Nonetheless, Conte clearly rates him, and his versatility would make him a great option for depth.
