Chelsea revisit Spanish transfer swoop

alonso.jpgChelsea manager Jose Mourinho could move again for Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso this summer after it emerged that the Spanish giants are looking to sign Spanish Under-21 star Asier Illarramendi of Real Sociedad, according to the Daily Star.

The former Liverpool star is out of contract at the Bernabeu next season and that could see him departing the club during this summer as Real look to cash in on the 31-year-old Spanish international.

Madrid already look to have found Alonso’s replacement in Real Sociedad’s young star Illarramendi who so impressively played in the anchorman role at the recent European Under-21 Championship where he led his young side to victory.

Alonso is understood to have held talk with Madrid over a possible new deal but to no avail. This may see Alonso joining Mourinho’s second coming at Stamford Bridge this summer as the former Madrid manager seeks a direct replacement for John Obi Mikel who looks set to join Turkish champions Galatasarary.

Mourinho has already signed Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen and Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem this summer as he looks to put together a Blues team capable of challenging for the Premier League title.
