It’s another big weekend of football action here in the Transfer Tavern but the Chelsea and Manchester United supporters have been bickering over a game of pool, due to reports from the continent.
Italian publication TuttoSport state that Chelsea have joined the hunt for Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi, who remains a target for Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Argentine striker could be on the move this summer if Inter fail to qualify for the Champions League, a task which is made difficult by the immense competition Inter face from rivals Napoli, Fiorentina and AC Milan.
Having established himself in Serie A, where he is captain of the San Siro outfit, eyes from across Europe have been cast towards the South American and a move to the Premier League this summer is extremely possible.
Both Chelsea and United, who will be led by new managers next season, are in the market to bolster their striking options and Icardi fits the bill perfectly, as he can provide an immediate boost as well as long-term contribution to the side.
Our landlord believes this will be an extremely close battle for his signature and believes Icardi’s final decision will stem down to which side can offer him opportunities in European football.
