Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern didn’t think their season could get any worse but it appears that they were wrong, as a threat was detailed today that’s sent shivers down their spine.
Reports have surfaced after it emerged that Burkina Faso international Bertrand Traore played for Chelsea’s U18 side at the age of 16, in what’s said to be an apparent breach of FIFA’s strict regulations.
Chelsea believe Traore was eligible to feature in friendly games due to an agreement but that may not be the case, although a FIFA spokesperson declined to make an official comment.
The Premier League side have themselves made a statement, where they claim the agreement was in accordance to Premier League and Football Association rules.
Whilst there’s no problems with his recruitment in 2014, the potential problems have surfaced due to Traore’s involvement in an U18 clash against Arsenal way back in 2011.
Our landlord believes FIFA has set a precedent with the ban imposed on Barcelona, which expired this month, and that football clubs should be geared for a wealth of similar punishments coming their way.
Chelsea fans, how would a transfer ban effect your future? Let us know in the comments below!
