Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their hopes of securing a stunning early deal in the transfer market shattered, after reports emerged that revealed their initial offer has been rejected.
The Guardian has revealed Chelsea have seen a £23m offer turned down by Serie A giants Roma for the signature of Belgian international Radja Nainggolan, who incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring in to his Blues revolution.
28-year-old Nainggolan has been identified by Conte as a prime-target to improve upon the Blues struggling midfield, which is likely to undergo a major redevelopment this summer when the Italian boss takes charge officially.
However, Chelsea face problems in their quest to land a deal as Roma are keen to keep hold of their prized asset, with the Italian club’s president, James Pallotta, demanding at least £32m if a deal is to go ahead.
Our landlord is expecting Chelsea to return with an improved offer but he feels that Conte should start looking at alternatives, just in case.
