Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe what they’re hearing this afternoon as they tuck into a steak and ale pie, after it was reported a shock move from the Blues has been rejected.
Spanish publication Sport state Chelsea approached Barcelona to offer Pedro to the Catalan side on-loan until the end of the season, with the Spaniard failing to impress after his £19m transfer from La Liga in the summer.
Pedro left Barcelona early in the campaign, after helping them to European Super Cup success, but has struggled in the Premier League, making 24 appearances in all competition and only scoring three goals.
The Spaniard may go down as the latest name on a long-list of transfer failures for the Blues and a quick return for Pedro was ruled-out by Barcelona, as the report states Luis Enrique rejected the offer and will instead push to sign Celta Vigo’s Nolito.
Pedro started well, scoring on his debut against West Brom, but has since been sucked into Chelsea’s struggles this season and the Blues sit just four points above the relegation zone.
Our landlord believes this was a daft offer from Chelsea, as he feels Pedro can provide the quality they need to get them out of their current predicament.
Chelsea fans, should Pedro be offloaded already? Let us know in the comments below!
