Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that the club are in trouble and punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are raising their eyebrows with the latest claim from Sky Sports.
The publication note Chelsea could well suffer another blow in their chase for Monaco’s Radamel Falcao.
The club have struggled at the back this season and have just conceded six goals in the space of a week, but it is up top where their real issues lie.
Since the departure of Didier Drogba, the club have not had a world class forward and when the chips are down and a goal is needed, they can’t exactly rely on what they currently have.
From Demba Ba to Samuel Eto’o Blues fans are being driven to our top shelf tequila more and more with each passing game. Even Fernando Torres, who threatened to actually go on a run of form has been bereft of ideas lately. Mourinho has long been a fan of Monaco forward Falcao and has been spotted scouting him on several occasions.
After rumours of unrest in Ligue 1, whispers of a winter move were gathering pace, but now vice president Vadim Vasilyev has moved to dismiss these reports, noting: “He is very happy here, he feels very good in Monaco. He loves this club.”
As our landlord notes, Chelsea are no strangers to making huge bids for forwards in January, and may well be set to do so again.
