It had been heavily rumoured over the last few weeks here in the Football Transfer Tavern and now the Daily Mail seem to think that Radamel Falcao is finally set for a medical at Monaco serving a huge blow to Chelsea.
The London club have been linked with the sensational forward who was thought to be at the top of Roman Abramovich’s wishlist this summer and now it seems that the club and incoming manager Jose Mourinho may well have to look elsewhere.
Add to this the fact that Robert Lewandowski is set to join Bayern Munich and the list of top class forwards available this summer is getting shorter by the day.
The Colombian international forward is set to join the mega-rich French club for around 60 million euros – a fee that Atletico Madrid are more than happy to accept. Quite why the forward has chosen to join the Ligue 1 side given they have only just been promoted to the top flight in France and the fact that they are not in the Champions League unlike Atletico Madrid or even Chelsea remains to be seen and accusations of going for the money will not leave the player.
That aside Chelsea are now set to turn their attentions elsewhere and the links to Edinson Cavani and Wayne Rooney are set to intensify.
