Our resident Chelsea supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern just want next season to start already, with the west London outfit enduring a miserable 2015/16 Premier League campaign.
It seems that the Blues will undergo a major revamp in the summer with several outgoings and incomings likely to happen, most notably John Terry set to depart Stamford Bridge.
The news filtering in from the London Evening Standard has eased the fears of some of the Chelsea fans here in the Tavern, with the media outlet claiming that the Blues have placed a £73 million price-tag on goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, amid interest from La Liga side Real Madrid.
This of course would be a world-record fee for a goalkeeper if Zinedine Zidane’s side actually pursued the talented Belgian keeper, but as our landlord quips, this price-tag will surely put Real Madrid off any potential move in the summer!
A handful of Chelsea fans enjoying an ale by the jukebox here in the Tavern feel that Courtois is one of the best keepers the club has ever had, and admit it would be a travesty to let the 23-year-old keeper depart Stamford Bridge.
