Chelsea set sights on experienced boss as Hiddink successor

ConteChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern feel like they’ve been linked with every possible manager this side of the moon and they’re now debating whether the latest reports are something to get excited about, as they tuck into a pulled pork sandwich.

The Daily Mail state Chelsea have identified Italy boss Antonio Conte as the ideal long-term successor to Jose Mourinho, who was axed before Christmas after an abysmal start to the Blues’ Premier League title defence.

46-year-old Conte, formerly of Juventus, has emerged as the leading candidate to takeover at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, with it understood the highly-rated boss is ready to leave his current position and manage in England.

With vast experience in Italian football, where he won three Serie A titles as a manager and five more as a player, Conte is keen to seek a new challenge elsewhere in Europe- and Stamford Bridge could be his ideal position.

Our landlord believes this would be a great appointment for Chelsea, as he states Conte would oversee a massive restructure.
