Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting to reports that suggest a senior figure could be set for an imminent exit from Stamford Bridge- and they’re surprised to hear it doesn’t relate to Jose Mourinho.
The Sun suggest technical director Michael Emenalo is under intense pressure, following the latest transfer failings from the West London giants.
The Blues failed to land top-target John Stones over the summer, also failing with a late move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos, whilst expensive purchases have left on-loan after failing to impress.
Chelsea spent a combined £34.3m on Mohamed Salah and Juan Cuadrado, both now on-loan with Italian clubs, whilst £17m Felipe Luis returned to Atletico Madrid after just one-year in the Premier League.
It appears Emenalo may take the front for Chelsea’s failed transfer business, with a departure before Jose Mourinho; who remains under intense pressure to succeed after a woeful start to the season.
Many at the bar feel this is rather unfair, as it’s Mourinho that has failed to get the best out of these players and they state the performances of the big-money flops away from the club show they are talented footballers.
Chelsea fans, should Mourinho be held responsible for these transfer failings? Let us know in the comments below!
