Chelsea set to battle to land £6m Eredivisie talent

FBL-C3-EUR-FEYENOORD-KUBAN KRASNODARJamie Sanderson popped in to the Football Transfer Tavern to inform Chelsea fans about their latest transfer target a little earlier.

Sanderson from Metro suggests that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is considering a move for Feyenoord goal machine Graziano Pelle as he looks to battle Barcelona for his signature.

Although Fernando Torres appears to have turned a corner and Samuel Eto’o is beginning to find his feet as a Premier League striker, today’s reports indicate that Mourinho still wants another forward after his unsuccessful pursuit of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney during the summer.

And now the Stamford Bridge are rumoured to be looking at the 28-year-old Italian who has found the net ten times in his ten games for the Dutch outfit.

The former Parma man had scored 27 goals in his 29 matches last term first on loan from the Serie A side before making his transfer permanent in January. Now this fine form has attracted suitors from the top European teams with Barcelona also thought to be interested with their scouts monitoring him for the last few weeks.

However rumours are that he would rather play under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and could be available for around £6 million in the winter transfer window.

The tavern’s landlord is in need of some more information on the relatively unknown striker called up his Eredivisie expert to find out more.

His knowledgeable friend explained that at 6 ft 4 in powerful striker suits the style of play Jose often opts for – a big front-man who can still hold up play and offers a threat at set pieces. And given his impressive goals-to-games ratio he believes that Pelle may prove a suitable option in the former Real Madrid’s striker search.

Will Chelsea be successful in their pursuit for the striker? Let us know your thoughts below.
