Chelsea set to be beaten to top target?

cavani.jpgThere are anxious looks here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed in the Daily Mail that Chelsea could be set to miss out on the signing of one of their top transfer targets this summer.

It is clear that to win the title next season, Jose Mourinho needs to sign another top class forward with Demba Ba and Fernando Torres not quite cutting it and now the Blues could well have to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Not for the first time this summer we are about to see one of the best forwards in the world join Ligue 1 and the money revolution. That of course was Radamel Falcao who joined Monaco and now it seems that Napoli’s in-demand Edinson Cavani may well be set to move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Parisian club are the defending champions in Ligue 1 and are confident of landing the Napoli forward who they are willing to pay big money for. As we know, Chelsea are not prepared to meet the £53 million price tag for Rafael Benitez’ star man, yet PSG are.

Therefore Jose Mourinho will have to turn his attention elsewhere and could well be set to make eyes at Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

Chelsea fans. Should you concede defeat in the race to land Cavani? Rate this rumour below.
