The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were very excited when Nathan Ake was recalled from a loan at Bournemouth last season…
Arguably one of the Blues’ best young players, the Dutchman really impressed for the Premier League side, and many expected him to give Marcos Alonso a run for his money in the Chelsea first team.
However, it didn’t pan out like that, and Ake was rarely given a chance for the club, leading many to speculate that he could look to leave the club this summer in search of regular first team football.
This is a topic that the Chelsea fans have been keen to avoid so far this summer, given their fondness for the Dutchman, but unfortunately, now they have been left with no choice. According to the Guardian, Chelsea are set to complete a deal to send Ake to Bournemouth this week, with a move touted at around the £20 million mark.
As expected, this news was met with anger in the pub, with Ake one of the best placed Chelsea players to finally break through into the first team. However, with Chelsea now linked with a move for Alex Sandro, that is looking increasingly unlikely.
Indeed, our landlord agrees and thinks that this is a huge mistake, particularly if the Blues have not included a buy-back option in any deal for the defender.
