Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are split on opinion after the London Evening Standard revealed that Jose Mourinho is fighting to keep hold of Filipe Luis as his former club Atletico Madrid come calling this summer.
Although he has very much played second fiddle to Cesar Azpiliqueta throughout this season, Mourinho highly regards the Brazilian and he is determined to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were aware of Diego Simeone’s interest after their manager said that he is interested in bringing him back to the Vicente Calderon.
Simeone said: “He’s a player we’re very fond of and he knows us well and gave so much to the team. I hope this one comes off.”
Luis has already turned down an offer from Real Madrid and has said he will only return to Spain for Atleti, after spending four years there before his move to Chelsea for £15.8m last summer.
Alongside this, Mourinho is also keen on bringing Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge whilst also confirming that Juan Caudrado is going nowhere.
