Chelsea set to keep a watchful eye on Champions League clash

Exciting times for the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…

Chelsea’s loan system has had some serious criticism over the last few months – but it has been undeniably successful with a few of the Blues’ young stars.

One player that has benefitted more than any other is Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who has spent the last season-and-a-half on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Getting regular game time in the German top flight, playing with some of Europe’s best, and playing in the Champions League – the deal to take Christensen to the Bundesliga was a masterstroke; but now Chelsea want him back.

With his 2-year loan deal coming to a conclusion at the end of the season, Antonio Conte is undoubtedly wanting to keep a close eye on him ahead of a Stamford Bridge return – and that process will, seemingly, continue against Man City this evening.

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are set to have scouts in attendanceĀ as Man City take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League – with the Blues particularly keen on watching over the young Dane.

This is hugely positive news for the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern, many of whom simply cannot wait for Christensen to come back to Chelsea. They think he could be a real star.

Christensen has already made 10 appearances for the German giants this season – and our landlord is expecting many more to come.
