Chelsea fans were taken aback when they entered the Transfer Tavern today as they heard their club is keen on signing a Premier League flop, though on later inspection it’s a deal they can really get behind.
The Daily Express, reporting via La Stampa, says Chelsea will push for the signature of former Newcastle United and Hull City misfit Hatem Ben Arfa, who has developed into one of Europe’s finest players with Nice this season.
French international Ben Arfa has helped Nice push for European football this term and has been linked with a staggering move for Catalan giants Barcelona this summer, as the player’s services become available due his contract expiring.
Chelsea seem intent on rivalling the European powerhouse for the signature of the 29-year-old though, as the Blues look to bolster their ranks after a disastrous season- which has left the possibility of Chelsea still finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Our landlord feels Ben Arfa has unfinished business in the Premier League and that he’ll earn greater opportunities that he would at Barcelona, so he’s urged the Frenchman to make the smart move.
Would Ben Arfa be a success at Chelsea? Let us know in the comments below!
