The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were impressed with Tammy Abraham whilst he was representing the England under-20 side…
Though the forward wasn’t able to reflect his domestic goalscoring record, his general build up play and technical skill was certainly on display – and he looked very impressive indeed.
Many of the supporters in the pub, then, are expecting him to have a really impressive season next term, particularly following on from his fine year in the Championship last season. It appears as though the Chelsea brass is expecting the same, with the Telegraph reporting that he is set to be rewarded for his excellent form and in anticipation of next season.
According to the Telegraph, Abraham is set to sign a new £50,000-per-week deal with Chelsea before completing a loan move to Swansea City ahead of the new campaign.
The increased wage certainly seems to suggest that Chelsea have very high hopes for Abraham, likely expecting him to have a stellar season away from the club before returning at the end of the campaign ready to fight for his place.
So far he has done everything right, but the hard work is yet to come. To really back up that salary he needs to be scoring regularly for the Swans this year as he looks to repay the faith put in him by both Chelsea and Paul Clement.
Our landlord, though, isn’t worried – and is expecting Abraham to really impress next year.
