Chelsea's season has been an excellent one thus far, with the Blues looking like a genuine threat to Man City's Premier League crown.

New manager Mauro Sarri deserves a heap of credit for his way of implementing his methods and tactics into his squad in such a short space of time, and the former Napoli man is showing just why he was so highly thought of over in Italy.

However, he will have a challenge in the coming years in terms of the age of some players in his squad, especially in defence, with the likes of David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Gary Cahill all not getting any younger.

With that in mind, we at the Tavern think the club need to be keeping an eye on a few players around the continent, and one man we think would do a job in England is Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij.

Despite only signing for Inter Milan in the summer, the £36m-rated defender could still be targeted in the next one or two windows by Chelsea, as the club seek to add further quality to their squad.

A regular for his country, and someone who has developed really well in the last few seasons with Lazio, De Vrij is someone who Sarri will no doubt already have a big awareness of.

A Premier League move would no doubt interest the 26-year-old, and the time could well be primed for him to make a move to Stamford Bridge and take his place in the Blues' back line for years to come.
