Chelsea comfortably wrapped up the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge at the Bridge, and Champions League football will be returning for the Blues next season.
The Blues will be looking to progress even further with things next year though, and with Champions League football and the pressure of trying to retain their title, they will no doubt need to strengthen come the summer.
Our landlord has been engaging in good conversations with the Chelsea fans here in the Tavern over the past week or so, and attention has very much turned to just who the club will sign during the window.
One player who we think could do with a move is Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, who has already been under the spotlight due to his contract situation at Goodison Park.
It appears that Barkley is not going to sign a new deal any time soon, and it could well the prime time for Chelsea to strike and add one of England’s top young players to their ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.
Barkley is a real talent, but his form has been inconsistent and patchy at times, something which he needs to iron out. However, it could be that a move to a top club with top players around him benefits him, and he finally fulfils the massive potential he showed as a teenager
Chelsea fans, what do you think? Would you take Barkley? Let us know!
