Chelsea continue to impress this season and have closed the gap to Manchester City, cementing their spot in the top four along the way.
The Blues appear to be the next best side in the Premier League after Manchester City, and despite manager Antonio Conte not quite getting who he wanted during the summer, the Chelsea squad is still blessed with a huge depth of talent.
However, with January now here and transfer rumours bound to be flying about, our landlord here at the Tavern thinks that the Blues could well use the next two windows to add some serious quality to their ranks.
One player he thinks they could snatch in what would be a controversial move for both clubs involved, is Spurs and England midfield ace Dele Alli.
The young midfielder is coming back to something near his best form, and bagged in the midweek win over Swansea prior to this article being penned before their home tie with West Ham.
It’s common knowledge in the game that Spurs are operating on a strict wage structure, and this is where Chelsea could swoop, with the Blues not averse to paying huge sums both in terms of transfer fees and wages, meaning Alli could well be swayed to make the move across London.
Alli would fit in nicely to the Chelsea line-up and would give them a genuine attacking threat from the middle as an attacking midfielder. He has plenty of time to grow and develop further too, and if Chelsea could somehow pull off such an audacious move, they could have a top player for the next decade to lead them to glory.
Blues fans, what do you think? Would Alli join? Let us know!
