Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are not exactly impressed with the latest claim coming from the Daily Star.
The publication note that one of the Blues’ least popular managers has recommended the sale of two players.
Rafael Benitez, the Interim One, has claimed that Eden Hazard and Oscar should be sold by Jose Mourinho should Paris Saint-Germain offer an incredible combined £300 million, and try and further enhance his Blues ranks as a result.
Our punters note over a pint that Mourinho has a pretty decent side already, and all he really needs to buy is a top class forward.
Even by Chelsea prices, we would be shocked if one of their stellar forward targets would cost as much as £300 million, so we are a little bit confused at the Napoli manager’s comments.
Benitez, who is still a rather unpopular figure amongst our Chelsea regulars, noted: “Maybe if Mourinho sells Hazard and Oscar for £300m and builds a team, it will come to something.”
Even our landlord notes that whilst it is an eye watering amount of money to be offered for two players, Chelsea would struggle to replace the creative duo, who are two of the best young players in the world and will only get better from this point.
Is Benitez simply meddling with the minds of Chelsea supporters once more or is he being genuine? Let us know your thoughts below.
