Chelsea should enhance homegrown quota with signing of Everton performer

The Chelsea supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are still happily drinking themselves into oblivion after a dream season saw them win the Barclays Premier League during Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge.

The Italian boss oversaw a remarkable revival at Stamford Bridge after the Blues had finished in a disappointing tenth the year previous and not being in European football was clearly a big positive for the club.

Next season will see the Blues return to the Champions League fold and it is vital that the team is well stocked in every department, which could mean a busy summer for the club’s dedicated boss.

One man who would be a remarkably shrewd signing for the reigning champions is attacking midfield Ross Barkley, with his Everton future looking increasingly uncertain right now.

The 23-year-old is yet to fulfill his potential and it a change of scenery could represent a positive step in the youngster’s future, with Chelsea just the club to get him whipped into shape and firing as one of the finest players in Europe.

Barkley has only made 150 appearances for the Toffees since bursting onto the scene way back in 2010 and it is now time for the player to start showing the nation exactly what he is capable of.

One Chelsea fan is sat with a full English breakfast and a pint here in the Tavern and he thinks that Barkley would be a decent signing for Chelsea, stating that if anyone can get the best out of him it is Antonio Conte.

Chelsea fans, would you welcome Barkley at the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
