Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are being linked with players left right and centre this summer, and it is no surprise given their spending power and status as Premier League winners.
One constant all summer has been the link between the club and Everton star Romelu Lukaku, although things have taken a turn for the worst in that saga over the last few days, with Conte becoming increasingly agitated at the whole saga.
Our landlord here in the Tavern though thinks that there are other options for Chelsea to consider, and one man he thinks could be a real star in England is current RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
The 21-year-old was one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga last season as he rattled in 21 goals. His form has led to international recognition, and he bagged for his country in a 4-1 win over Mexico last week.
Werner looks to have all the qualities needed to be a top class player for years to come, and the Germans in the last few years have produced more than their fair share of world beaters.
Werner will probably not stay with Leipzig forever, and he would no doubt cost a fraction of the price of Lukaku, making him an interesting proposition for the Blues should they want to pursue other options.
