Chelsea completed their summer transfer window with the late captures of goalkeeper Kepa, as well adding Mateo Kovacic as part of the deal which saw Thibaut Courtois go the other way.

The Blues endured a frustrating window on the whole though, and there is an element of disappointment amongst some fans, who thought the summer would see a massive influx of new blood into a squad which failed to compete for the Premier League title last term.

With January now seeming a long way off, the Chelsea board could well end up living to regret not signing one or two more new players, and one man we think they should have made a move for is Spurs midfielder Moussa Dembele.

The Belgian was expected to make a move away from the London club this summer, but has managed to stay put with Mauricio Pochettino's men, despite seemingly being there for the taking for a club like Chelsea.

Despite the signing of Kovacic, the Blues still look light in the middle, with an ageing Cesc Fabregas and the poor form thus far of last summer's big money signing Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Signing someone like Dembele would have been a shrewd move by Sarri and the Blues. The midfielder brings a presence to the middle of the park, is classy on the ball, and has top flight experience in abundance.

Spurs will no doubt have been delighted to have kept hold of their man, but we at the Transfer Tavern can't help but feel this was an opportuntiy missed by the Chelsea board.

Chelsea fans, what do you think? Would Dembele have been a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
