Chelsea should look to add to attacking ranks with signing of 29-year-old Belgian forward

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have ordered the landlord to make sure he has plenty of champagne behind the bar ahead of the closing stages of the campaign, with the Blues on the verge of a scintillating double.

The Barclays Premier League success looks to be a foregone conclusion whilst a London-derby in the FA Cup Final at the end of the month could ignite wild celebrations in the Tavern in Antonio Conte’s maiden campaign at the club.

The fact that the Blues haven’t had European football to contend with this season has clearly made a massive difference to their league form, although boss Conte will want to build a squad during the summer that is capable of challenging in all competitions next season.

The Chelsea fans here in the Tavern have been discussing which areas will need strengthening and after such a solid campaign it is certainly difficult to find any¬†weaknesses withing the Blues’ ranks.

One man who would be a decent signing for the Blues could be Napoli forward Dries Mertens who has been the standout performer for the Italian club over the course of the last season.

Chelsea will need some extra ammunition in attack given that they will have the Champions League to contend with and his versatility to play in a number of positions in the front three would make him a solid acquisition.

Our landlord follows Italian football very closely and he believes that Mertens would be a quality signing for the Blues, stating that with him one side and Eden Hazard on the other, it would make the team extremely well stocked in the final third.

Chelsea fans, would you welcome the Belgian to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
