Chelsea should look to land 24-year-old goalkeeper during summer transfer window

The Chelsea supporting punters are an extremely happy bunch here in the Football Transfer Tavern having witnessed their team winning the Barclays Premier League during the 2016/17 campaign.

Antonio Conte’s maiden season in English football ended in sheer jubilation with the Stamford Bridge-based outfit reclaiming their crown in emphatic fashion, much to the delight of the Blues faithful who can often be found drinking in the bar.

With European football back on the agenda next season, Italian boss Conte will undoubtedly be looking towards the transfer market to make some additions to his squad.

One area that the Chelsea boss will be looking to strengthen in will be between the posts with backup stopper Asmir Begovic departing for Bournemouth ahead of next season.

The champions would be extremely wise to try and press ahead with a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland who is now fit and ready to play after missing the majority of last season with an ankle injury.

With Thibaut Courtois firmly established as the club’s number one, Chelsea would be wise to pursue a younger keeper to act as second choice and Butland fits that bill.

Stoke are unlikely to want to sell such an influential player but the huge bucks of the Londoners could prove tricky to turn down for the club.

One Chelsea fan is sat tucking into a bacon butty here in the Tavern and he thinks that Butland would be a class signing for the Blues, stating that his potential could make him a worthy replacement for Courtois in years to come.

Chelsea fans, would you welcome the signing of Butland to West London? Let us know in the comments below!!!
