Chelsea should look to recruit world-class central defender in bid to retain title

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are still getting boozed up after seeing their team win the Barclays Premier League last season and celebrations are still in full flow.

The Blues romped to the title under the likeable Italian manager Antonio Conte who secured the title during his maiden season managing in English football.

Although the boss delighted the club’s supporters by winning the title during 2016/17, the supporters here in the Tavern do believe that the biggest test for the Italian will be next season when European football is back on the agenda.

The summer will see Conte continue to put his own stamp on the Chelsea squad and some additions will naturally be made to the squad.

One man who the club should to all they can to sign is Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci who could fancy a change of scenery after several years playing for Juventus.

The 30-year-old is one Europe’s top defenders and his arrival could enhance the Blues’ chances of retaining their title come May 2018, whilst their Champions League chances would be boosted too.

A reunion with his former boss Conte would represent an attractive proposition for the no-nonsense central defender and it would also let the rest of the division know that Chelsea mean business.

One Chelsea fan is enjoying a game of pool with his pals here in the Tavern and he thinks that Bonucci would be a really shrewd signing for the Blues, stating that a leader in the mould of John Terry can only be a good acquisition for the club.

Chelsea fans, would you welcome Bonucci this summer? Let us know in the comments below!!!
