Chelsea should look to replace John Terry with this £21.25m-rated defender

Chelsea have more or less sewn up the Premier League title (at the time of writing), and manager Antonio Conte will be delighted with his sides progress this season.

The Blues have more or less romped to the title, with their 3-4-3 formation and intense playing style proving too hot to handle for the opposition in the Premier League.

The Chelsea fans who have been coming into the Tavern this season have been a very happy and loud bunch in the main, and this hasn’t changed this week following their 3-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Our landlord has been spending some time with the Blues fans at the pool table this week, and one player he mentioned Conte could look to sign this summer is defender Aymeric Laporte.

Currently valued at £21.25m by website Transfermarkt, the big centre back has become one of the most sought after young players in Europe over the last 12 to 18 months.

His form for Athletic Bilbao has caught the eye of many a manager across the game’s biggest clubs, and it is surely only a matter of time before he moves on.

His reading of the game, aerial ability, and general all round play make him a top player, and at just 22-years-old, he has plenty of time to develop into the long term successor for the outgoing John Terry.

Chelsea fans, what do you think? Would you take Laporte? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
