It’s been a tough few weeks for the Blues. Problems are cropping up throughout the Chelsea first team, and none are more prevalent than in the attack.
The Blues are lacking options, despite the capture of Olivier Giroud, with Eden Hazard still being heavily relied upon by Antonio Conte.
This summer, then, the Blues need to ensure that further quality is brought to the attack, and one player that could be the perfect signing is Leon Bailey, who is rated at £25.2 million by Transfer Markt.
Currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen, the Jamaican attacker is enjoying quite the season. He has picked up 8 goals and 5 assists in the Bundesliga, all whilst being just 20-years-old.
Known for his lightning-fast pace, that is most certainly Bailey’s most evident quality. The way he drives with the ball and chases after loose deliveries truly adds another facet to his game. However, his skill goes far beyond that. He has incredible technical ability, allowing him to dribble past opponents like they aren’t even there.
Moreover, his goalscoring threat is evident, particularly in the form of long-shots – and that includes set pieces, too.
The prospect of signing Bailey at any time is an attractive one, but the Blues’ need for further depth in his position is far clearer now. Both Willian and Pedro have come under fire in recent weeks for their poor form, with neither player really able to provide much in the way of anything going forward. Not to mention, Pedro is 30, and Willian will turn 30 later this year, and so preparing a plan for life after the duo makes sense. At 20-years-old, Bailey is the perfect option.
Allowing him to link up with Eden Hazard would prove Chelsea with so much, too. Their fantastic pace would compliment one another perfectly, whilst the directiveness of Bailey would allow the Blues to maximise their attacking flow.
