The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are running out of patience in their side’s pursuit of Alex Sandro…
The Blues have been linked with a move for the Juventus defender all summer long, and with time beginning to run out, many in the pub fear that a move simply isn’t going to happen.
Despite this, it is clear that Chelsea need to add more depth on the left-hand side of the defence, and if Sandro isn’t happening, they need to find an alternative.
Antonio Conte could scour Europe for a top talent, or he could look a little closer to home, as our landlord thinks that there is a perfect solution just across London.
Danny Rose has been a star at White Hart Lane for several years now, and has established himself as one the Premier League’s best on the left-hand side of the Tottenham defence.
He fits all of Chelsea’s needs in the role: he is quick, attacking, powerful and experienced – and whilst he is very good going forward, the defensive side of his game has really come on in the last 18 months or so.
Crucially, as a homegrown English player, he would also help Chelsea reach their required quota of homegrown talent – which is another key aspect of why he would be such a good signing.
Rose is rated at £25.2 million by Transfer Markt, and whilst Daniel Levy of Tottenham would likely demand far more than that, he would be worth every penny. He is reportedly eager to win trophies over the coming years, and so the prospect of moving to Chelsea – arguably England’s most prolific side in that regard in recent years – could be tempting.
Will a deal be easy to complete? Certainly not – but it’s worth a go.
