The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left feeling disappointed at the form of Tiemoue Bakayoko this season. The Frenchman came in with a lot of hype, but he has duly failed to deliver on all counts.
This summer, then, Antonio Conte has a big decision to make. It’s unfair to judge a player on his first season, but his level of performance simply hasn’t been good enough, and so it might be time to move him on.
That can only be done if a replacement is signed, though, and our landlord is backing Arturo Vidal – who is rated at £31.5 million by Transfer Markt – to be the man to seal Bakayoko’s fate.
The two share many qualities, but Vidal has been at the top of his game for the last few years, whilst Bakayoko has obviously not been at his best this season.
A powerful midfielder, Vidal offers brilliant control in the midfield, making use of his attributes to ensure that nothing gets past him. He’s a great tackler, and he’s a relentless runner – making him a real nuisance for offensive players.
He’s also a decent offensive threat, too, with his great runs, shooting and technical ability causing opposition defenders more than a few issues.
The Chilean was Antonio Conte’s go-to man during his stint at Juventus, and seeing the pair link up once again would certainly lead to renewed domination for each individual.
Bakayoko could yet get more time at Chelsea, but if they’re able to land Vidal, the Blues need not waste any more time. Vidal is the solution.
