Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are basking in delight following their last-gasp victory against Spurs on the weekend.
Our resident Blues fans are still revelling in a delirious state following their 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend.
Now, attention is beginning to divert towards the remainder of the transfer window. Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has stressed his desire to sign more players on countless occasions during the past few weeks.
Time is certainly of the essence, and accordingly, our landlord believes that the champions should target versatile players who provide cover for multiple positions.
As was displayed against Spurs, Chelsea has one of the best starting elevens in the league; the issue is with regards to a lack of depth. Hence, signing players who operate in several positions would be of tremendous benefit to Conte.
One such player is Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The 23-year-old is perceived as the perfect fit for Antonio Conte, the man that suits the criteria that the Italian manager is looking for.
The Englishman can function at wing-back, central midfield or as a winger – it’s this invaluable versatility that makes ‘the Ox’ such a desirable transfer target.
Chelsea’s squad is severely depleted, 13 players have been released or sold, another 25 have left on loan, while only four players have arrived, one of which is a backup goalkeeper.
As time is running out in the transfer window, the Blues’ hierarchy must act punctually to avoid undesired repercussions. You had better get moving.
