Both Chelsea and Liverpool have had decent opening halves to the season, securing qualification from the Champions League and maintaining good enough form in the Premier League to remain in the race for the top four.
The Blues and the Reds both ventured into the transfer market in the summer, and their big money signings have so far paid off, with Alvaro Morata proving a big capture up top for Chelsea, while Mo Salah has been simply superb for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The long term rivals will no doubt be wanting to add more quality to the ranks during January, and our landlord here at the Tavern thinks there is a big chance we might see both clubs go head to head to sign the same player. That player? Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The speedy Gabon international has been nothing short of breathtaking over the last two seasons, with his goals and form catching the eye of of Europe’s best.
However, the Dortmund man appears open to a move now, and January could well be the time to swoop for clubs in England, with both Liverpool and Chelsea offering attractive propositions to Aubameyang should he opt to move to the Premier League.
Bags of pace, excellent movement, and clinical finishing make Aubameyang one of the world’s best at the moment, and both clubs should go all out to capture the striker and add someone of genuine world class to their squad.
Blues and Reds fans, what do you think? Would you take Aubameyang? Let us know!
